The Early Bird Gets...

To go down for a nap earlier?

Boden is about 24 weeks old now and goes in for his 6 month check-up on Monday. Outside Spring is finally sprung...and we are looking forward to heading outdoors for some long walks sans the snowsuit and blankets. Boden recovered (I think) from his cold, double ear infection, and eye infection so has been in pretty good spirits and his face has not been nearly as juicy with baby oozings (snot, spit from blowing bubbles, drooling...eye gunk...whatever else comes out of those tiny orifices).

Six months doesn't bring a ton of changes. Sure, he's more alert, is eating pureed foods like a champ (now loves sweet potatoes--yea!), has better control while sitting (sits for short spans without a support), and he's starting to roll from his back to front but not quite making it--but nothing is entirely complete. Right now, he's making strides towards big milestones.
I was hoping for great things in terms of sleeping habits. However, no surprise here, being sick followed by a round of antibiotics with negative side effects for his tummy and bum led to an even worse (yes, "worse" was possible) pattern of nighttime waking/eating/cuddling. It's frustrating. If I didn't have to use my brain, this constant deprivation of sleep would be less of a big deal, but I'm forgetful (I forgot my mom's phone number the other day while dialing...mind you, it was also MY phone number when I lived at home), spacey, not on my game at work, and some might say I'm a wee bit unpleasant (if they said it to me, though, I'd kick their butts!).

On Wednesday morning, Boden woke up happy, cuddly and oh-so-smiley...except it was at 4 in the morning. After having been up with him 5 times previous to that, I was not feeling happy, cuddly, or oh-so-smiley. I wasn't the least bit angry with him, though...it's hard to feel any kind of negativity towards someone who a) thinks you're the bomb and b) who is being nothing but pleasant. So, I laid my head on the Boppy (and you thought it was just for breastfeeding support), covered up with a blanket and parked Boden on the floor next to me to play for 2 hours until he was ready to nurse again and go down for a "nap" at 6. The bright side was this gave me PLENTY of time to get ready for work and people noticed :)
