Fluent in Toddlerese

At the Arboreturm Children's Maze
Listening to your children learn to talk is really amazing...Boden can communicate with words what he wants, what he's doing, what he's done, what he likes, in a language I sometimes understand.  Nothing has been more frustrating than when he asks for something and I don't get it--but Boden repeats it with a patience that bewilders me given his usual lack of it in all other circumstances.

While it's great that Boden's words are becoming clearer, there are definitely some that only mama understands (given the right context and a lot of patience from both of us).  I have a couple of my favorites, that started out really cute and then he perfected them, but I miss his funny interpretation of them:
  • Peas = please
  • Punk = Pumpkin
  • Monk = chip a monk = chipmunk
  • BeBe = Bueller (still hasn't perfected, but now we all call Bueller "BeBe")
  • Sewn = Sloan (she's still Sewn but I'll miss it when he discovers the letter L)
So silly, so funny, so sweet.
