The past few weeks haven't been chock full of adventure or anything--I've just been lazy about blogging. In my head, I composed several blog posts, but none of them appeared on-line and are long-since forgotten (boo hoo for the witty tales you'll never get the chance to read). So, to catch you all up, I have a re-cap of the last few weeks in a somewhat chronological order, though the details get fuzzy...
1. Boden had a play date with someone 10 months older than him and was hugged a lot :) Elliott was all about hugs that day...wish I had gotten a picture.
2. Boden got an ear infection right before the 4th of July--Todd scored parent points because he called it AND took Boden into the pediatrician. I scored points because I got to spend 5 consecutive days (that's 24 hours of each of those days) with a non-sleeping, irritable child.
3. We discovered Boden's first known allergy--the antibiotic for his ear infection first caused the usual diarrhea (we prevented monkey butt with a healthy slathering of butt paste) and, after two days of treatment, resulted in hives. Apparently, peds think it's a big deal when your infant breaks out in hives so we had another trip to the pediatrician for them to confirm that "yep, he's probably allergic--don't give him anymore" (duh) and, although he was all clear of the infection, I am convinced we are breeding super antibiotic resistant strains of ear infection bugs...I am done with antibiotics and am slightly peeved that the pediatricians are so willing to dole them out as a first line of defense.
4. The whole family went to Doug and Susie's for the 4th (it was a trip from Hell that's best told in person--involves a poorly timed 4th of July parade, throwing up, Menard's and public nudity). Boden slept through the barrage of fireworks in the late evening but woke up as soon as his parent's heads hit the pillows.
5. The bout with the ear infection got us off track and it took over 2 weeks to get back in the groove with our pre-ear infection sleeping schedule of sleeping almost through the night. (damn ear infection)
6. Boden has grown slightly bored with the whole crawling thing and has banged his head a bunch of times in an effort to walk--Boden's attitude is "I want to walk therefore I should be able to (bonk! head hits something hard). WTF, I thought I could walk?! Mom! Why can't I walk?! I'm angry, now!" Given his short fuse over the littlest things (like some other male I live with), I'm almost certain his first words will be of the 4-letter variety.
7. While Jeff and Todd did something with the dock and Petra supervised, I did my best to entertain Ammi and Boden. I thought it would be great because they are both mobile and both into playing so they would play with each other. Hah. I was barely able to get them in the same room to get a picture of them together. My best defense was to immobilize one in the back pack carrier or the high chair. It was the longest two hours I've spent with two little people...or was it like 30 minutes?
And there you have it--all caught up!
