My First Play Date

Right after Thanksgiving, our friends Kara, Sam and Emma came to visit on their way back to Chicago. They stayed two nights and I encouraged them to stay longer...to move in, if they wanted, but they had to get back to their lives at home.

Emma is about 5 weeks older than Boden so I was looking forward to seeing what we had in store for us 5 weeks down the road. First off, Emma looked like a giant and felt like she weighed a ton of bricks :) This, of course, was relative to Boden. Emma was a little more interactive which was fun to see...smiled directly at her parents, followed things (toys) with her eyes and she really loved Boden's swing. The babies didn't do much playing with each other--I'm pretty sure they weren't even really aware of each other, yet. Neither one has the gross motor skills to reach out to one another so we didn't expect much. It was more of a first play date for me and Kara--which we both really enjoyed. With Kara's 5 more weeks of experience than me, she was able to answer a lot of questions for me...the "is this normal" kind of questions. Future play dates are likely to be a little more eventful for these two.
